Yes, we've finally decided to put the page up. The menu archive is our online
collection of images of pizza menus contributed from around the world. It's still
only small, but the submissions are pretty widely spread, so we decided to put it
up to encourage further submissions.
In the pipeline, but still on the drawing board, are plans to add a guestbook to
the site, provide translated versions of the pages for international visitors (!)
and offer virtual franchises to affiliates. Watch this space in the new year.

The menu archive goes live.

Pizza Website of the Week !!
|
|
Although they didn't bother to tell US about it, we have been awarded Pizza Website of The Week, by
the American journal Pizza Marketing Quarterly. Alright, so they got our name wrong and completely
failed to notice either the pizza preference service or the online order tracking service
but they did say they thought our preconfigured searches were the best pizza reference they knew.
And they did like the virtual pizzas.
W/E August 6th 2001 for the record.

Yes, finally. 'Flat and lifeless' was one of the nicer things said about our old olives. We were
acutely aware that they weren't up to scratch, and we've now secured another supply. Bigger, and
with a far superior texture, they will immensely improve the pizzas for all you virtual olive
lovers out there.
Virtual olive lovers ? Did I write that ? What was I thinking ?

Bigger, better olives.

Pizza Preference Service
|
|
The latest feature added to the site is the Pizza Preference Service. Like mailing and fax opt
out lists this allows for individuals to block pizzas being sent to them. And since it went live we have enhanced
it to allow users to prevent pizzas being sent to them with ingredients they don't like.
|
After a four week pilot the pizza ordering is now live, and we've started publicising it.
We're still working on the links pages and we hope to start putting on the first menus soon.
The backend processing cluster is under construction so we still can't handle large volumes yet,
but all in good time. Most importantly we've added the enhanced the anti-spam measures and
introduced the Pizza Preference Service, to allow blocking of email addresses.

E-Pizza has gone live.

Woodlands railway tender
|
|
Unfortunately we failed to secure the Woodlands Railway
refreshment concession. We're looking now at operating the
'Pink Elephant' charity sandwich operation as a cash flow
generator.
|
There's good news too on the problems we had before Christmas. The Min of Ag (or whatever they call themselves these days)
has given our welsh suppliers permission to being trading again. We're told no evidence was found of the tuberculosis
in the breeding stock, so Welsh Quality (crunchy) Hedgehogs should be rolling out again soon.

Health update

Mr Potato Head
|
|
The newest feature of the site, that you will already have encountered
if you came through the home page. One of our programmers found this
little gem, which is a jave implementation of a Mr Potato Head, sticking
eyes and so forth on to an image of a potato. A quick change later
and we have a draw your own pizza, suitable for many a long minute of
entertainment for the under fives. Click on the help for credits.

Our plans for online generation and e-mail delivery of promotional 3D pizzas are well developed. The first
prototypes have been generated, and design of the engine is under way. To keep the load off the main server
the backend processing will be hived off to a cluster of redundant low end machines. (Thanks Linus.)
